Women's Track Update from Meggie Sullivan

The 2019 spring season for the CPTCwomen‘s middle distance crew has so far been ablaze. The team’s all-time best list has been edited multiple times already, and we aren’t even through the month of June.

On June 1st, Olga Kosichenko, Stephanie Herrick, and Meggie Sullivan toed the line at Nashville’s Music City Distance Festival. The weather yielded near perfect conditions for fast results as Kosichenko won her elite 800m heat in a time of 2:03.39. Later that evening, Herrick and Sullivan walked away with a season best and PB in the elite 1500m, respectively. Herrick crossed the line with a 4:21.02 (just a few seconds away from her PB), while Sullivan followed behind in 4:22.10, capturing #4 on the club’s all-time list.  The homestretch was loaded as nine tenths of second separated the two women who took third and seventh place in the heat. The three women will compete next at Princeton University’s meet at the end of June before taking off to Europe for a month of fast competition.

Victoria Kingham has been chiseling away at her PBs this year, ranging from the 1500m to the 5k. The latest was garnered at Garden State Twilight’s 5k with a 16:37-second-place-finish, a 10-second cut from her previous PB. A week after, Kingham bounced back at Boston’s Battle Road 1500m where she snagged another best in 4:26. Kingham’s former college rival turned beloved training partner, Maryann Gongdemolished her PB at the Spring Street Road Mile in Connecticut, stealing #4 on the CPTC all-time road mile list with a blazing 4:45.40.
