Mary Diver reports on the strong double first-place showing of CPTC’s 50+ and 60+ teams at Saturday’s Fitness Mind, Body and Spirit Games 4-Miler:
“What a fabulous job done by all of you who participated in Saturday’s Club scoring race 4 Miler. The weather conditions were not as easy with high humidity of 93% and 65 degrees. The good thing is that it was overcast. Everyone looked great and looked healthy. It was great to see all of you. Congratulations to everyone on a fine job well done. We will be having Stacy Creamer joining our team this month. She will a fabulous new addition to the 50+ squad.
The 50+ team came in first place and the 60+ team came in first place as well. The 50+ team consisted of Sylvie Kimche, with a time of 29:18, followed by Margot Sheehan, with a time of 29:56, and Deborah Barchat with a time of 30:59. Great job! What’s amazing is that the 60+ team truly helped out the 50+ team, keeping the 50+ Team in first place in the overall team rankings. Way to go. I was happy with my run with a time of 31:53. My times will improve as I committed myself to training better, in terms of getting in more running days and getting my mileage up. I was very happy to be out there to participate. It’s important to participate, even if you don’t score for the team. Every member of our 50+ and 60+ women’s team counts, no matter what.
The 60+ team consisted of Sylvie Kimche with a time of 29:18, followed by Deborah Barchat with a time of 30:59 and Judith Tripp with a time of 31:27.
Everyone placed in the Top 10 of their respective age groups. In the 50-54 age group was Margot Sheehan with a time of 29:59, making her 5th. In 55-59 was Mary Diver with a time of 31:53, making her third. In the 60-64 age group was Sylvie with a time of 29:18, making her first, Deborah Barchat with a time of 30:59, making her third, and Judith Tripp with a time of 31:27, making her fourth place. Congratulations!
The most amazing thing about all of this is that this double first place was done by a four-woman team! For all of you who could not make this race, we missed you. Mary Rosado, Ray Baymiller, Jame Kenney, Jan Fraung-Krause, Caryl Baron, who is recovering from surgery. Caryl, we miss you and hope you recover well and soon, so that we all can see you out there on the roads with us. Lynn, we miss you too.
The next club scoring race will be the Grete’s Great Gallop Half Marathon. Please let me know who will be running. I will sign up for this race and run to help fill a team for the 50+ women. I know that most of you will not do this race, but for those who are into long distances, it will be great to see you out there.
Again, congradulations to everyone on a SPECTACULAR JOB WELL DONE!
Please train smart and wisely. Please stay healthy. We are in a good groove and on a good roll. Our momentum is going strong and going so well! YOU ALL LOOKED GREAT AND A FABULOUS SIGHT TO SEE. THE FABULOUS 50s AND THE FABULOUS 60s OF CPTC!!!!!!
Thanks to all of you for being out there and participating and bringing home first-place honors! My thanks go out to all the other members of CPTC for cheering us on. Thanks also go to the coaches, Devon and Tony, for being out there and cheering us on. We can’t thank all of you enough!
Sincerely,
MaryD”
