Derrick is a 1995 World Champion and a 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist in the 400 meter hurdles. He has coached collegiately for Georgia Tech and Columbia University where his athletes have achieved All-America honors. He has also coached and mentored Olympic Gold Medalists, Angelo Taylor and Dalilah Muhammad. He is a USATF Level I certified coach who also privately coaches youth and adults in Manhattan and Long Island.
