After a lot of good miles, a lot of good stories, and a lot of fond memories, it’s time to lace ‘em up. You know the time is near, yet you keep pushing on, hoping to get in just one more run. No matter what the conditions, no matter what time of day, it was there for me. However, your body tells you to be smart, and for once and for all say goodbye to the thing that is oh so dear your heart. It was a great run; however, it’s now time to move on. I’m not known to be a sentimental person, but I am now. As you see, I need to retire my old pair of running shoes. I got a quality 500 miles out of the pair, an injury free 500 miles at that. But as I’m now breaking in a new pair of shoes, I feel I owe my old pair something. There should be a proper ritual, or some sort of ceremony to mark the occasion, yet I have no idea how to celebrate the milestone. Do any of you have any ideas? Do you do something to commemorate your worn out pair of running shoes? I could use your help in coming up with a new tradition to mark such an occasion! The memories deserve to live on!!
