Central Park Track Club legend Sid Howard will receive the Ted Corbitt Award from Run2Live on October 30, 2015. Sid will be recognized with a festive event at Village View Center for his continuing service to New York City running.
As some of the prime beneficiaries of Sid’s work, CPTC members can vouch for his deserving this and his many other honors. According to Run2Live, the Ted Corbitt award “is presented to a person who demonstrates an excellence in the sport of running, a love for the sport of running and a willingness to share and assist others to be the best they can be. This individual best exemplifies the Ted Corbitt quote: ‘I tested theories and techniques on myself. If they worked, I’d pass them around to my friends.'”
At the Fifth Avenue Mile this year Sid put aside his own race plans in order to run with 96-year-old William Benson, who became the oldest finisher of the race. For Sid that was just one more act of service to the running community, but to runners like William it meant the world.
