The Central Park Track Club’s Women’s T&F team has been off to a blazing start this 2019 indoor season. In early December, Staten Island native and new member, Olga Kosichenko began her season with a qualifying time for USATF’s National Championship, clocking 1:29.22 in the 600-meters at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.  Freshly-minted with a New Balance sponsorship, Asha Ruth also qualified for USA’s in the 300-meters and captured a win with a lightning 38.50 finish. Just last week at the Norb Sander Invitational, rookie CPTC’ers Victoria Kingham and Maryann Gong stationed themselves onto the Club’s 3000-meters indoor best-time list, stealing the 5th and 6th spots. Their tenacious performances yielded a 9:35.54 and 9:36.55 respectively, among a field of top collegiates. Kingham, a New York City native, captured a personal best while in the chase.

As we accelerate into February, our team goals are close in view and the optimism is high. Our next competitions include: BU’s Valentine Invitational (Boston), NYRR’s Thursday Night at the Races (NYC), Fastrack National Invite and Last Chance Invite (Staten Island), and more.  USATF’s Indoor National Championship will be held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, February 22nd -24th.

Just this week, Stephanie Herrick showcased her speed in 1000m at the Armory’s NYU Invitational to kick-off her season, finishing in 2:48.57–just a few seconds off the USA qualifying standard.
