From Lauren Carter of the Open:

Some trotted and some raced but one thing is for sure, the Women’s Open Team certainly earned their Thanksgiving dinners!

The week kicked off on Sunday down in Philadelphia where Kim Velsey raced in the Philadelphia Marathon and Hannah Rose raced in the Half Marathon in what was nearly ideal weather.  Bolstered by Coach Tony’s workouts, Kim far exceeded her goal of running under 3:30.  Kim completed her first marathon in 3:13!  Through solo workouts and overcoming several injuries, Hannah slashed her half marathon PR by a whopping 3 minutes to finish in 1:28:30s.

In Brooklyn Christina Argueta and Erin Conroy ran the Prospect Park 5M Turkey Trot.  Christina was being counted on to provide pie later that day, and she picked one up when she won the race in a time of 29:31, defending her time from last year.  The pressure to provide pie was probably not as harsh for Erin but she certainly put her best foot forward finishing first in her division in time of 32:38.

And down in Arlington, Erin’s twin, Tara, kicked off her Thanksgiving with the Arlington Virginia 5K finishing the race in 19:37.  Despite the hilly course, Tara was also able to bring home a 3rd place finish.

Out on Long Island in the Garden City 5M Turkey Trot, Aileen Barry and Lauren Carter put their fitness to the test and then ran stride for stride for most the race.  Both ladies took home first in their age category as they went 5 & 6 for the females in the race crossing the finish line in 30:17 and 30:30 respectively.

Upstate in Cortlandt,  CPTC members current and former rocked, rolled and brought home Turkeys!  Sisters Alysia and Shawnessy Dusseau competed in the Cortland 5K Turkey Trot with former CPTC teammate, Natalie Mackenzie, who won the female division.  In snowy and wet conditions, Alysia took home third in a time of 20:10 and Shawnessy finished a bit off her PR in a time of 22:12.  I hope all the goodies they brought home were enough to feed the Dusseau family!

And down in NJ Steph Herrick polished off a solid week of training but trotting in the Krogh’s Turkey Trot of 5K.  Steph finished the race in 19:29 using the race as a type of hill workout.

Look for the Women’s CPTC Open Team to take on their last road race of the year on December 13th in the Ted Corbitt 15K.
