From Lauren Carter of the Open:
Cat Beck
NYRR
It was a beautiful day for the Brooklyn Half Marathon. Nothing but cool, crisp air at the start of the race, perfect for taking on shade-less Ocean Pkwy in just a short time. The CPTC Women’s Open team was all smiles as they rounded Prospect Park and raced their way down Ocean Pkwy to a second place team finish.

They were lead by Cat Beck’s elated finish of 1:17:43. She certainly had lots to smile about with her one and half minute PR. Katie Castro fought off tight muscles to sustain her streak of solid running with a 1:23:14 finish, and Jacy Kruzel cruised to 1:23:14 finish as the third scorer. Allison Lind took to the course as a fantastic fourth scorer with a finish of 1:25:08. Jen Busse looked cool and collected as she flew down Ocean Pkwy to finish the race in a time of 1:25:20 and rounding out the scoring for the Women’s Open team.

Following in Cat’s PR setting footsteps, Tara and Erin Conroy went 2-for-2 when it came to PRs. Erin ran for a 1:19 PR finishing in 1:26:12, and Tara finished in 1:27:26, a 2:23 PR!

The biggest PR of the day, though, once again goes to Shawnessy Dusseau, who ran a time of 1:36:08. A whopping 2:34 PR! Congratulations to all the ladies who raced. Next up 10K Mini on June 14th!
From Ani Go of the 40+:
Plenty of master’s 40+ women action both on the road and on the track!
The women’s 40+ masters team mingled amongst the hipsters at the Brooklyn Half marathon! Not an easy course to be sure, but a scenic one as the orange ladies Audrey Kingsley and Nicole Rodriguez (still fresh from the Boston Marathon, taking one for the team!) made their way from the art museum, around and in beautiful Prospect Park, and down the parkway to the Coney Island boardwalk, claiming their well-deserved medals at the finish.
Congrats to the open women’s 2nd place win, open men’s 3rd place finish, master men’s 40+ 1st gold, master men’s 50+ and 60+ 2nd place wins!

Triumphant track news! The hardworking Judy Stobbe ran a PR last Thursday at the first of this season’s USATF Twilight Series! Her 19:30 in the 5000m is a 2 second PR from the NYPD 5k she ran last year, and puts her in the master’s best times list for that distance on the track! Masters ladies representation didn’t end there however. Shemayne Williams caught fire in the 200m with her time of 29.9 and Sue P (VP!) melted the track running 2:49.84 in the 800m.
Next up–road ladies–the Mini 10K. Bring it on! GO ORANGE!
