Central Park Track Club Women’s Open Team depth helped them to a second place finish on Saturday’s Team Championship 5 Mile Race. Kate Pallardy led the whole field through the first mile and held on strong to be our first finisher, taking home 4th place.
We were very lucky to have Cat Beck back in town to run a negative split race and be our second scorer, finishing 9th overall. Alex Bernardi followed up as our 3rd scorer, running another solid race!
Jacy Kruzel, Christina Argueta., and Andrea Bradshaw were across the line next, while none had PRs, all noted they were happy to help the team and be done before the guys! Less than 20 seconds separated our last four scorers, which showed our strength and depth as a team. After crossing the finish line, many women remarked how great it was to see an orange singlet right in front of them . Grace White led this contingent followed by Alysia Dusseau. Elleree Erdos, our 9thscorer, said she “was grateful for such a solid pack of teammates in a tough, hot race. There was always a CPTC uniform close by, and it was that much easier to reel in the competitors by working together.” Lindsay Kos, our 10th scorer, noted “Seeing a big pack of ladies in orange ahead motivated me to catch up to them on the 3rd downhill mile since I knew the race would feel easier if we worked together. I worked with Elleree, Alysia, and Colleen to get up Cat Hill. Big thanks to Colleen for really helping me sprint to the finish!”. A year ago Lindsay watched on the sideline, so it was great to have her back out there racing in the orange!
Despite 79% humidity, Jena Tiernan actually had a PR by 4:23! Congrats to Jena, as that is one tough feat in the dreaded humidity. Congratulations to all the girls who raced! Each runner played a part is showing the NYC running community just how much of a presence CPTC has!
Make sure to sign up for our next scoring race on August 27th, the Percy Sutton 5K. See you all out in the park!
