From Ani Go of the 40+:
Congrats to our 60+ women’s and men’s, and men’s 50+ teams who placed first! Great job to our open women’s and men’s teams, masters 40+ and 50+ as well!
Masters 40+ ladies brought their A game on a sticky and humid morning in Harlem. The course was a little bit hilly, but we rose above the hills to take on the challenge! It was Harlem week, so finishing jazzy style is your little captain with 20:46, and following with a stunning debut (everybody say hello, and please welcome to the ball!) Ms Nicole Rodriguez in 21:07. Rounding out the scoring team, and without her we could not have scored first, this cat Susan Laucius-Stamp, who’s baaad (shut yo’ mouth! but I’m talking about Susan!) with 22:14. The ladies all finished in the top 10 of their age groups as well. Fantastic job ladies!
Next–the 40+ masters ladies burn up the asphalt on 5th avenue!
GO ORANGE!
From Sylvie Kinche of the W 50+ and 60+:
Dear all,
Sorry for late message. As some of you may know i came back last week (Thurs at 3:50am to be precise) from my trekking/mountaineering trip to Ladakh and still have lots of things to catch up with (including issues with my computer 🙁
Here is my recap of Saturday’s team race:
After returning two days earlier from a trekking/mountaineering trip to Ladakh, I was at the start of the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Saturday morning at 135th street. Unbeknownst to me, so were Lynn Blackstone and Mary Rosado, which meant that we had a team. We took full advantage of it and took 1st place W60+ team (by almost ten minutes ahead of Millrose). Which proves my point that as long as we (the CPTC W60+ ladies) field a team, we score high, no matter who is part of the team.
Congrats to Lynn for her 1st place in her age group. Congrats to Mary too, for her first road race of the year and thanks for being here and helping the team to 1st place.
As for me, despite a tough race due to fatigue and very humid weather (after 3 weeks in desert-like conditions), I managed to get 1st in my age group too.
The W50+ team of Margot Sheehan, Mary and me took 4th place
Let’s look forward to the next team race, the 5th Avenue Mile. Hope to see you all there, whether running or cheering.
Go orange!
