From Kristan Dietz of the Open:
Hi All,
I just wanted to send congratulations out to all of our CPTC ladies who ran in the 5th Ave Mile on Saturday! There were so many great performances and lots of PR’s to recognize. Steph Herrick, Denise Mazzeo, and Ivette Ramirez all PR-ed in the NYRR Women’s Road Championship Mile. Cat Beck led the team with her third place finish in 4:46.4. Steph followed in 4:52.2, Denise ran a 4:54.5, Rolanda 4:55 .1, and Ivette ran a new PR of 4:55.5. Other great PR’s include Kim Smith (5:04), Annie Onishi (5:08), Alysia Dusseau (5:11), and Steph Yang (5:25).
If you ran a PR and I missed it, let me know. The next scoring race is Grete’s Great Gallop Half Marathon on Sunday, October 14th. Please let me know if you are running.
Congrats again to all who ran Saturday!
Kristan
From Cat, Nicole and Kristan of the Open:
Taking advantage of some beautiful fall weather, the CPTC open women’s xc squad kicked off the season this past weekend. The team was represented by awesome, early season performances from Denise (5th place) and Ivette (11th place) at the Iona Meet of Champions held at VCP. They ran 22:32.23 and 23:07.78 respectively over 6.1k…. Congrats, ladies!
Also, a shout out to our CPTC-ers who raced the Fitness 4 miler on Saturday, led by a 4th place finish from Aileen Barry!

From Ani Go of the 40+:
There’s something bad-ass about running a mile. And something that makes it extra bad-ass when you’re running down 5th Avenue.
The ladies tore up the road! The great Terry Ballou, stepping off the short boards for a bit, toed the asphalt and put down 5:22, coming 3rd in her age group. Next, the fantastic Ms Sue “Slingshot” Pearsall, in 5:59, and Wonder Wanda Wang rounded out our scoring team with 6:01 (or 6:02, NYRR needs to fix her results). The ladies should be in 2nd! Also representing strong is track star Andrea Ostowski, with her best mile in a few years, 6:37.
Meanwhile, until NYRR changes the results, the amazing Sylvie Kimche has scored for the 40+ masters ladies, coming in at a incredible 96.9% age graded in 6:22, still giving us a podium finish. Rowr!
Congrats, all!
GO ORANGE!!

Next points race–Grete’s Great Gallop (10/14, Sunday, 10:30am). Please please sign up if you haven’t, we are just ahead in 1st place by a point. We have a chance at first place this year, and we deserve to be there. Let’s go girls!!!
From Sylvie Kimche of the W 50+ and 60+:
Unfortunately the W60+ did not have a team again…
However, in the W65-69 Sylvie Kimche came in 1st with a 6:22, despite running with a mild pulmonary infection. (ed.: Her age graded score was an amazing 96.9%.)
Rae Baymiller came in 2nd in the W65-69 in 6:38. Rae’s age graded score was even higher: 99.1%, for the second highest on the day.
Cheers,
Sylvie
