From Ani Go of the W 40+:

We came, we ran, we conquered!

Women’s 40+ masters captured first place, and this is how it went down: the great Yumi Ogita came out swinging in 24:49 (missing to tie for the scoring team by a mere second).  The ever platinum Jill Vollweiler showed her winning hand, throwing down 26:19, and I anchored with 26:57 (a tiny pr, cookie for me!).  Rounding out our team is the always strong wonder Wanda Wang coming in 8th in her age group with 28:18.  Wanda, all those 8’s are lucky indeed! Congrats ladies, and great job!

More news–Yumi also did the relay in the NYC Triathlon last Sunday, running the 10k portion with John Milone doing the biking leg.  as first timers in the tri-relay, they not only came in 1st for the mixed team, they came in 1st relay team overall!  Woohoo!

The London Olympics are right around the corner, and everyone has Olympic fever.  Props to Lisa Daley and Terry Ballou in their incredible 400 meter performances at the trials in Eugene.  And let’s wish our team’s Olympians, Erison Hurtault, Jeremy Bascom, Julius Mutekanga, and Moussa Dembele good luck in the games!

Congrats to all the teams, and everyone who ran!

GO ORANGE!

From Sylvie Kimche of the W 50+ and W60+:

We did not have a W60+ team for the CP Conservancy 4 miler but to my utmost surprise, the W50+ team came in 2nd thanks to a stellar performance by Yumi, 1st in her age group in 24:29, a 87.84% AG performance (FYI, Yumi would have placed first in both the 40-44 and the 45-49 age groups – and she was 1st for the CPTC W40+ team as well. Way to go Yumi!).

Sylvie ran a 30:07, good for 1st in the 65+ age group (& 1st in the 60+ age group too) and  despite being almost a minute slower than on the same course on April 22 for the City Parks Foundation 4-mile run, still good for a 88.81% AG, was 2nd for the W50+ team. Judith ran hard but was adversely affected by the heat. Her time of 36:02 was good for 4th in the age group and she completed the W50+ team for a surprising but well deserved 2nd place. Congrats to all the CPTC runners/teams for all their great results!

Go Orange!
