The USATF Club Track & Field Championships return to Icahn Stadium in New York this year, and promises to be a great event. Be sure to come out this Friday and Saturday, (July 13 – July 14) to cheer on your teammates. Even though there are qualifying marks needed this year, we have 22 men and 22 women entered, many in several events. Let’s have a big contingent of CPTC members attend and show our support. Wear orange!

Here are the schedule of events and current entries. We have new member Lauren Primerano entered in the first event, the women’s hammer at 11:00 AM on Friday, followed by the javelin at 4:00 PM. (Lauren competed in the 2004 Olympic Trials in the javelin). The first running event is at 5:30 PM, the women’s 100 meter hurdles and the first running event with a Central Park entrant is the men’s 110 meter high hurdles at 5:50 PM.

All of the individual event finals from 400 meters to 5000 meters are Friday night, except for the steeplechase and 400 hurdles. Allow plenty of time to get to Icahn Stadium on Friday for the first big middle-distance event, the women’s 1500 meter final at 6:10 PM sharp, where we have seven women entered and I can guarantee that you don’t want to miss this race. The men’s 1500 meter final follows, with four guys entered, including Sam MacKenzie, immediately after the women.

Events for Saturday are the finals of the sprints and 400m hurdles, the steeplechase, and all of the relays, which are always fun and exciting to watch. On Saturday, the first running event starts at 12:30 PM. Admission and parking are free.
