Last weekend the CPTC women took second to Greater Boston Track Club s third in the Mayor s Cup 5k cross-country championships. This Saturday at Van Cortlandt the GBTC women returned the favor, winning the Bad Boy IV and leaving CPTC once again with a strong second, led by Aileen Conlon and Sarah Alaei. It is a little bit consoling to note that GBTC s number two scorer was Allison McCabe, who ran for Central Park in 2003-2005 till grad school took her back to the Bay State.

In the men s 8k, CPTC took sixth, led by Carl Dambkowski and John Roberts. First place team was neither last year s winner Westchester (which didn t compete) nor the hosts, Brooks Manhattan Track Club. Instead, a team called Speed River swept down out of nowhere (Toronto, actually–lovely place) and nailed scoring slots 1,2,3,4 and 6.

There were cold winds, slate-grey skies, and threats of rain, but Bad Boy IV had a record turnout anyway. For the first time, Bad Boy also served as the Metropolitan USATF xc champs race.

Another first: the souvenir t-shirts were of a tech fabric. Alas, the printer made the same mistake as last year. That makes three t-shirts so far, all proclaiming Bad Boy II.
