Several of our long distance runners are planning to travel to New Bedford, Massachusetts to run the New Bedford Half Marathon on Sunday, March 18, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. This is a fast and very competitive race, as it is this year s host of the USATF-New England Team Championship. This race would be an excellent tune-up for anybody running the Boston Marathon or another spring marathon. You can register online here. The registration fee is $25 until February 28 and $35 thereafter. Online registration closes on March 13. For more information email Jim McQuade at jmcquade@orrick.com.
Having run this race in the past, I have nothing but good things to say about the event and the competition. The course has three major hills and is frequently run in very windy conditions, but that hasn t stopped over fifty runners from breaking the 75 minute barrier in each of the past three years. Unfortunately, you don t see this depth of talent at any NYRR race. It would be great to get a full team out there to see how well we do against the top teams of New England. For those runners looking for a competitive race with a unique feel to it, look no further.
UPDATE: When signing up signing up for the race on active.com, please manually enter your team affiliation as Nike Central Park Track Club. CPTC does not appear in the drop-down list of available clubs.
