From Kristan Dietz:
Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a bunch of great marathon and turkey trot performances over the last few weeks from our Women’s Open team! This may be a long recap so I apologize!
After New York was canceled, Lindsay Crouse braved the “9 rush hour drive away” to the Richmond Marathon. She ran a 3:05:11 for 16th place! This was after she had to call the hostess at her bed and breakfast to ask if she could pick up their race bibs. Lindsay wrote a great recap of her race execution: “After a very overambitious surprise 6:22 first mile—apparently Tony’s sage 10-10-10 wisdom was another casualty of the storm, I decided things could only go “uphill” from there. Buckled down, I did the rest of the first half in a 1:30 and then completed the second half, as happens in any Marathon Plan B, gasping for breath and demanding that my friend not let me drop out. Have never been more excited to cross a finish line”
We had a few more ladies head down to the Philadelphia Marathon. Megan Manfred ran a huge PR of 3:17:39, just about five minutes faster than her personal best. Megan notes that she did “well on executing 10/10/10 up until about mile 17, at which point I just tried my hardest to hang on, picking it up a little in the last few miles.” She is also going to execute a 5 week taper before all marathons now! (Just kidding). Marisa Galloway matched her PR to the second in 3:21:12. She said that Philadelphia was very welcoming. “They really catered to the NYC crowd by playing New York, New York and asking people to cheer for the displaced NYC runners.” Megan Kretz ran a 3:22:24. While not a PR, she felt strong throughout and was really glad that she had the opportunity to race. “Thank you City of Philadelphia!”
Now on to the turkey trots!
– Alysia Dusseau raced at the Cortland Turkey Trot. Alysia’s 19:02 was good for second place and a pie!
– This may come as a surprise, but Ambreleah Dusseau also raced at the Cortland Turkey Trot! She ran a 20:56.
– Christina Argueta defended her Prospect Park Turkey Trot Five Miler title in 29:33, 3 seconds faster than last year.
– Alma Liebrecht won her local Laurel, MD race in 20:18, which got her a pecan pie and a Macy’s gift card!
– Lidia Garcia ran an 18:51 in the Burbank 5k Turkey Trot, finishing 1st in her AG and 5th woman. She also notes that she felt stronger than she ever had before!
– Nicole Falcaro won the Kroghs Turkey Trot “5k” (which may be been a 3 miler) in 17:39.
– Cat Beck ran a new five mile PR of 28:10 at the Feasted Five in Andover, NH. She celebrated by eating two Thanksgiving dinners.
– Lauren Esposito ran the Troy Turkey Trot in 18:49
– Rolanda Bell ran the Garden City Five Mile in 27:38, which was a new personal best
– Annie Onishi accomplished a life-long goal of winning the Westfield Turkey Trot. She ran a 31:10.
– Sarah Schillaci ran the Ashenfelter 8K in 31:01, good for 6th woman overall. She won a mug and a jacket but most importantly, her mother said she looked great.
– Jane Vongvorachoti ran a new road 5K personal best of 17:11 at the Oyster Bay Turkey Trot. It was a PR by 13 seconds.
This Sunday is the Join The Voices Five Miler in Central Park, our last scoring race of the year. The race starts at 8:30am. If you are running, let me know and good luck!
Thanks,
Kristan
