Hi Everyone,
Some of our CPTC ladies hit the road this weekend to take part in the Harrisburg Marathon. The NYC Marathon may have been canceled but they were not to be denied their marathon. And they all had amazing races! Everyone agreed on three things: Harrisburg was extremely welcoming, the CPTC support at the race was great, and the race was NOT flat as advertised!
Leading the team was Annie Onishi, who finished second overall in 2:58:12, which is a 6 minute PR. She ran that well even after having “an unfortunate run-in with a wooden post at mile 18 whilst avoiding some race-walkers.” Annie also said that “Harrisburg is lovely this time of year and the park where the race starts and finishes has 5 dollar pony rides.”
The next CPTC runners were Alysia Dusseu’s 4th place finish in 3:05:50 and Veronica Jackson’s 5th place finish in 3:06:39. Alysia’s time was a 2 minute PR and placed her first in her age group. Veronica PR-ed by 3 minutes and noted that “thanks to our recognizable uniforms, CPTC was definitely getting more than it’s fair share of cheers.”
Rounding out the team finishes were Grace White in 3:17:01, Ambreleah Dusseu in 3:21:34, Meredith Kennedy in 3:27:20 and Dani Sturtz in 3:29:47. Grace ran a 3 minute PR and noted that while they underestimated the intensity of the course, it was beautiful and ran along a river and on trails. Despite a 5 minute PR, Ambreleah said she would choose the “Queensborough bridge and up 1st Ave any day of the week over those hills!” Alysia said Ambreleah requested new legs at the end. Meredith ran a HUGE 11 minute PR. Both Meredith and Dani said miles 19-21 were on a trail and NOT easy. But Meredith put it best when she said that “we all accomplished what they set out to do” and it was great to share that new and different running experience among teammates!
Congratulations ladies! Way to make CPTC proud!
Your Roads Captain,
Kristan
