From Andrew Moore of the M 50+:
The results for Sunday’s race show just how tough the competition is for the 50+ age group in these NYRR road races. The age group was taken by Taconic RRC, with Brooklyn RR finishing second and our CPTC behind them by 43 seconds in aggregate. The team was led by Peter Allen (31:05), with Chris Donnelly on his heels (31:10) and Mike Rennock closing out the scoring (31:38). Nice job by all.
Congrats too to Tommy Raymond (33:10), Oscar Garcia (35:01), Phillip Vasquez (36:55) and Ralph Ripley (39:07). It is shaping up to be a highly competitive series of races this summer and fall.
Next up is the 4 mile Run for Central Park on July 14. Registration is now full for this one. Following that will be the Club Champs, Harlem 5K and the 5th Ave Mile – be sure to sign up to race if you can.
From Hank Schiffman of the M 60+:
We had fair weather and four scorers. A bit more speed would have been nice. That would start with me. As per last year, I ran up Mt Washington the day before this race. It was rob Peter to pay Paul; better on the rock pile, worse in Central Park. 3:24 faster on Mt Washington (27 seconds per mile) but 1:38 slower in our club point race (19 seconds per mile.) The team scoring was close as we were just 40 seconds out of 2nd place and a mere 27 seconds out of 3rd. Mea culpa. Witold’s Runners ate out lunch for 3rd place. Taconic remains the 800 lb gorilla and West Side summoned their talent to take 2nd, eating both our lunch and dinner. GNY did not field 3 finishers, at least so it seems as of now. Come Club Night if we are down 2 to 4 points it will be shame on me.
Three cheers to Harry B Lichtenstein for scoring second position, 38:06, small consolation for turning 60. And Chip Olsen with 40:29, backed up with Fred Trilli, 42:45, and Dave Delano, 43:36.
None of us are getting younger. But the faster are getting older. Jack McShane has been nosing out Timothy Delaney for first place in mens 60-64, Alston Brown (back in town) took 2nd place from Timothy.
Many thanks for the support of our team cheering us on, especially Chris Neuhoff and Kevin McGuire.
Registration is already full for July 14th’s CP Conservancy 5 miler but open for all team point events thru October. These fill up quickly so get on board ASAP for the Club Champs, the Sutton 5k, and the 5th Avenue Mile.
