Peter Derby reports on Nov. 22nd’s Bad Boy race in Van Cortlandt Park:
“The 8k and 5K cross country races at the Bad Boy VI meet brought a women’s team victory and close men’s team competition. In mild fall temperatures on a blustery Sunday morning in Van Courtland Park, Aileen Conlon dominated the field (17:51) and led the CPTC women’s squad to win. In the men’s race, Christopher Spooner took the reins, finishing fourth overall (26:34) with the team finishing second by four points to Manhattan Track Club.
Overall, with 13 women and 15 men competing, Central Park made an impressive showing. Placing six women in the top 13 of the competition. Emma Spencer (19:29), Laura Wang (19:22), Kristina Maletz (19:30), Therese Caffrey (19:50), and Kristel Adler (19:59) followed Conlon to makie a tight scoring group. For the men, Peter Mullen (26:42), Peter Derby (26:59), Carl Dambkowski (27:15), and Jonevan Hornsby (27:25) came down the cinder straightway all finishing within a minute of Spooner.
Bad Boy VI puts the teams in a good position to head to the USATF Cross Country Club Nationals Women’s 6K and Men’s 10k on December 12.”
