Welcome to masters running Jill Vollweiler.  Jill won the Nike world race thing in August, ran a flying 5:08 mile in September, and now in October at Grete’s ran 1:19 to finish second overall, first in her age group and first among CPTCers, while notching our highest age-graded score of the day (86.9%). Allez, Jill. Now, what race could she top it all with in November?

Also on the women’s side, Yumi Ogita continued a blazing streak, running her third age-graded PR in as many races with a 1:27 (84.1%), earning her a third place medal in her age group.

On the men’s side we had ten age-graded PRs – a good sign going into the end of the year and we should give credit for it to Coaches Tony and Devon. I’ll put the orange spotlight on Jeff Wilson’s 1:21 because at 83.2% it shows a huge jump in performance from his previous best this year of 79.2%. Welcome to the 80% national class club, Jeff, and make it stick. We should also nod our collective heads at the great Peter Allen’s 1:17 (85.3%), and new member Giovanni Caracci’s 1:40 (69.6%), which knocked down his old best by an impressive five percentage points.

Michael Rennock and Steven Monte win the Zatopek award for serial suffering, as they raced the 2/3 marathon last weekend and the 1/2 marathon this weekend. Both set age-graded PRs today.

The other CPTCers who set age graded PRs this week, in order of age-graded percent: Chris Neuhoff, Willam Komaroff, John De Csepel, Hiroyuki Nishide, and Robert Siegel.

On the team front, CPTC won the Women’s 40+, which may move them up from third place in the standings. Men’s 50+ and Women’s 50+ also won, cementing their places on the top of the charts.

In the 1.8 mile Norway Run, Ani Go won her age group by almost a minute.

Finally, the NYRRC recently published results from the September 21 cross country race in Van Cortlandt, and there was bliss in the Bronx, as Alexander Bruskin won the 40-44 age group.
