Invitation to all Central Park Track Club Members:

Just a 45 minute train ride up the beautiful Metro North Hudson Line in historic Sleepy Hollow, NY is Rockefeller State Park also known to locals as Pocantico. Pocantico was the backyard playground for the John D. Rockefeller’s Westchester estate. The Rockefeller family built over 20 miles of carriage trails through the woods of the estate in Sleepy Hollow. The Rockefeller Family generously donated much of the property to New York State opening the carriage trails to the public for horseback riders, walkers and runners. The Park features three distinct areas of access and trails, a beautiful 2 plus acre lake, a working farm, and a world renowned restaurant, The Stone Barn. Former World Marathon Record holder Khalid Khannouchi lives in Ossining and trains at Pocantico.

Thirty year Central Park Track Club member, Roger Yergeau, has restarted his running career and has renewed his love affair with Pocantico. The Park offers many varied training routes and in the last 5 years New York State created access to Rockwood State Park that allows additional running routes most notably routes that parallel the Hudson River. Thus if you want to run for 5 miles or 25 miles, you can run on soft surface carriage trails and many times not repeat any trail.

Roger lives in Ossining NY and his home is 6 miles from Pocantico. He extends an open invitation to any CPTC runner or group of runners to plan a visit to Pocantico. He will be pick you up and return you to the Ossining NY train station (around $15 round trip off peak), guide you through the Park and extend an open invitation to shower off at his home. The best deli in Westchester County- Rocky’s- is 2 minutes from Roger’s home, Ossining Pizza is on the way from Roger’s house to the train station and a Gelato Store sites next to Ossining Pizza. Ossining is also home to two Dunkin Doughnuts and we have a Starbucks.

Thus if you want a nice relaxing run in the country and not have to travel for hours, contact Roger at:
