Just in case any of you out there are itching for a late summer vacation, I am on a team running the Nike Hood to Coast Relay in Oregon, and we recently found ourselves short two runners. Hood to Coast is a 12-person, 200-mile race (okay, it s 197 miles, but who s counting) from Mt. Hood to the Pacific Ocean. I ran it two years ago and can honestly say there s nothing like it. Where else can you race on back-country trails at 2 am and spend 24 hours in a van with a bunch of sweaty runners?

We are competing in the Mixed Open division (6 men, 6 women) and need one man and one woman. The other guys on the team are in the 36-40 minute 10K range, the women in the 40-45 minute range. We re all either currently or formerly from Austin, Texas, but don t let that scare you. (Well, unless you went to A&M.) I m the lone New Yorker and (new) CPTC member. We ve rented a couple of condos at the shore for Saturday and Sunday nights, where there will presumably be lots of beer and some general post-race debauchery. So if you re interested or know someone else who might be, please email me at tluthi AT gmail.com and I ll give you the details.

Thanks,
Tanya Lüthi
