The Open Women competed with tenacity, teaming, and speed to come away with the win at the NYRR Club Championship! With the competitive nature of NYRR, this is no little feat. Speaking in cross country terms, our spread from our first scorer to our last, was only one minute and 6 seconds! A coaches dream! 9 girls ran under 30 and 7 ran PRs!!!

Our first runner was Veronica Jackson, leading the team with a new PR in 29:01.  She loved the fun energy on and off the course. In her own words:

On a day when things weren’t quite clicking, knowing that there were so many CPTC teammates out there gritting it out  for every extra second definitely kept me fighting for it!

To the eyes of everyone on the course, things were clicking and she was leading the CPTC contingent to a win!

Closely behind was Alex Bernardi in 29:03, another PR!  Next up was Rolanda Bell in 29:10. just a few seconds behind with a pair of PRs, both finishing in 29:15, was Aileen Barry and Steph Herrick. Aileen fresh off her OTQ time and Steph fresh off her stellar Europe summer track season- had the long distance and middle distance teams merge together for the win!

Keeping the PR streak going was Brianna Hickey in 29:41. If you blinked your eyes, you may miss our next two runners as they quickly came through within 1 second. Elena Barham and Cecilia Davis-Hayes came through in 29:43 and 29:44, respectively.  Cecilia mentioned how much she loved running side by side by Brianna much of the race and being part of the BEST team in NYC.

Another dip under 30 was Andrew Bradshaw in 29:56. Closing out the strong group of scorers was Manon Blackman in 30:06.

More PRs came to front with Jordan Snyder running 30:23 and Elleree Erdos finishing in 30:48 and Zoe Gaston in 34:12. Alysia Dusseau came away with a race and course PR in 31:06.

With all these PRs, it’s hard to believe the humidity was 97% and temperatures in the mid 70s.

This win is pretty epic. It may be the fastest, or surely one of the fastest, total times CPTC has ever put to paper.  So much to be proud of and so much to be excited for in the fall races to come!
