Dear JF,

Hey, I m currently in St. Louis to catch the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals take on some sort of New York team! I was wondering if you could recommend a long run for me, preferably one where I can see the famous flashing lights . Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance!

Mike from New Jersey

Mike,

Holy Moly! Am I jealous of you going to see the Cards! And if you picked up one of those commemorative World Series rings, I m even more jealous!!

Any time is a great time to see St. Louis, but April is a particularly good time to head out to the Gateway City. So here s a route for you that features the famous flashing lights. Assuming that you ll start at the Forest Park Fieldhouse (the traditional spot for starting long runs), it will take nearly eighteen miles to see the flashing lights and head back home. But trust me, everyone needs to experience the flashing lights at least once; you won t regret it. Usually in New York you don t get that many opportunities to use the USATF running route database, but here s a great time to use it. Click here for the route made famous by the Disciples Running Club. I ve even marked on the route where the flashing lights are, so you can t miss it! Heck, you can even see the elevation changes and where all the mile markers are at (whoever said St. Louis was flat just needs to look at the hills on this route!). How cool is that?

Enjoy the Show Me State!!

JF
